SUMMARY:Gallery Exhibition - Fine Art by Bevin Elizabeth Moeller
DESCRIPTION:~INVITATION~ \nCOMMON WEALTH GALLERY SHOW OPENING \nWEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 30TH 4 – 6 P.M. FREE \n“LANDSCAPES IN THE RAIN” (NEW ABSTRACT PAINTINGS) \nAND “THE THINKING EYE” (FASHION AND FABRIC) \nFINE ART BY BEVIN ELIZABETH MOELLER \n12-6 p.m. September 30th-October 6th \n  \nLANDSCAPES IN THE RAIN  \nMy recent formless abstract painting antithetically counters the other extreme of cartoonish form. A major recent shift has been the imposition of human premeditation and devising upon the realm of dreams. The type of thinking at the helm of such projects\, since it identifies and defines\, precludes what dreams once were as the realm of the unidentified and undefined. A core question is about the fear of the right-brained form of wisdom by the left-brain. As humans we are all innately both thinking and feeling\, but centering their “rational” awareness\, if it can be called awareness\, in the frontal cortex many people often cannot respond anymore to the experiences abstract art elicits. Access to forms of intellect we cannot do without has been diminished. \n  \nTHE THINKING EYE \nPaint’s uniqueness knows no bounds\, outside positivity: the form of paint is maximally complex\, the most potential for myriad creativity. I take this touchstone to the extreme by using my fingers and rags to alter the shape of the applied paint until I feel it is created and unexpected enough to be interesting and still visually satisfying in its evocations. Especially in apparel paint is an explosion of possibilities for standout aesthetic quality. \nHow does the repetition of the art image\, and on large yard-sized cloth\, in the gallery space\, affect the interpretation of the art image the cloth is based on? I found the answer to be luckily simple. The observer still focuses on one instance of the repeated image\, while getting a feel for a larger work of the same qualities from the larger space of the repetitions. Thus I could display my art in this way. These are paintings and drawings I mostly haven’t been able to keep due to eviction\, printed by Spoonflower onto fabric. \nRegarding hand-painting apparel\, the new form of the red boots blocks and covers up the awareness of their old form. But especially the blue\, green\, and red paint I used and the new patterns of matte versus shiny in the pleather texture. The outfits from my fabric\, painted purses\, shoes\, and jewelry create artsy street looks with original style. \nGALLERY SHOW – Flyer
